Chale Wote Street Art Festival Offers a Platform To P0resent Ghanaian Culture on a Global Scale - Ghana Tourism Authority

Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, the Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has shared insights into how the authority is actively engaged in advancing the Chale Wote Street Art Festival.

He highlighted that the Chale Wote festival serves as a platform for GTA to exhibit Ghana's cultural legacy and commemorate elements that hold importance for the African community.

During an interview on Joy Prime on August 25, Mr. Kusi emphasized that the festival offers numerous prospects, especially in involving the youth and boosting the festival's global significance.

He stated, "There are various opportunities in terms of employment, revenue generation, artist collaborations, and more. These are the reasons why we, the Ghana Tourism Authority, have endorsed and are driving this initiative." Mr. Kusi, the GTA Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs, expressed that Ghanaians have always valued their cultural heritage and beliefs. He mentioned that by continuing to focus on domestic tourism, there's potential to elevate the Chale Wote Street Art Festival into an international tourism attraction.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, along with GTA, have orchestrated events and activities aimed at invigorating the industry and attracting numerous individuals from the diaspora to Ghana.

Mr. Kusi elaborated that the Chale Wote Street Art Festival offers a platform to present Ghanaian culture on a global scale, drawing parallels with successful initiatives like the Year of Return in 2019.

"In 2019, we introduced the Year of Return. Now we have Beyond the Return and the Destination Ghana Project. During the Year of Return, many diasporans and individuals of African descent, including tourists and visitors, flocked to our country. They were captivated by our music - which is precisely what Chale Wote offers. They came for our arts, creative expressions, music, and culture," stated Mr. Kusi. He underscored that the Chale Wote festival acts as a magnet for tourists with an interest in Ghana's arts, music, and culture. He added that GTA's dedicated efforts to promote the festival are geared towards attracting more tourists and ensuring a comprehensive and vibrant celebration of the event.

"This is why Ghana has gained international prominence for numerous positive reasons. The Ghana Tourism Authority is actively promoting this aspect to draw in more tourists, facilitating a wholesome and all-encompassing Chale Wote festival celebration."
