Angélique Kidjo, the five-time Grammy Award winner and well-known pop singer from Benin, is set to perform at the Royal Albert Hall on November 17, 2023, as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. She'll be celebrating her four-decade musical journey alongside her band and the Chineke! Orchestra, presenting some of her most beloved songs. The event pays tribute to the influential African artist often referred to as 'Africa’s premier diva'.
Sharing the stage with her are renowned musicians like Laura Mvula, the British singer-songwriter, Ibrahim Maalouf, the Grammy-nominated trumpet player, and Youssou N’Dour, the Senegalese superstar.
One of the special guests joining her is Stonebwoy, the Ghanaian afro-dancehall sensation, known for his dynamic performances. Stonebwoy and Angélique Kidjo share a creative connection, evident in their collaborative efforts, including the recently released video for the single "Manodzi," a contender for a Grammy award nomination in the Best Africa Music Performance category.
Stonebwoy, a pioneer in the global afro-dancehall genre, has been a prominent figure in the African reggae and dancehall scene since 2009. With five albums to his name, including the 2023 Billboard-rated "5th Dimension," he's a strong contender for nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards in categories like "Best Global Music Album" and "Best Reggae Album." His widespread popularity and influence extend beyond Ghana, making him a respected global music icon.
