Stephanie Benson Advocates Pragmatic Approach to Breast Cancer Treatment.

Renowned Ghanaian songstress and performer, Princess Akua Ohenewaa, better recognized as Stephanie Benson, has expressed the viewpoint that for women grappling with breast cancer, the preferable course of action should be the surgical removal of their afflicted breasts as a part of treatment, rather than clinging to them and ultimately succumbing to the ailment. The distinguished songstress, herself a survivor of breast cancer, emphasized that it is wiser for breast cancer patients to relinquish their breasts when the medical need arises, rather than retaining them out of cosmetic concerns.

This proclamation was made by the acclaimed artist known for her hit track "It's You" during an exclusive interview with Keely-Jade Brewer on Asaase Radio's "Between Hours" show, conducted on Monday, October 9, 2023. In her explication, she conveyed, "Should circumstances necessitate breast removal to secure one's survival, the choice is clear; one must not jeopardize their life due to vanity." Stephanie Benson further urged breast cancer patients to maintain a constructive perspective, underscoring its significance as an integral facet of the convalescence process.

Recalling her own initial confrontation with the diagnosis, she recounted, "The revelation was profoundly startling, commencing with my cervix and subsequently my breast. This ordeal precipitated my rapid transition into menopause." Reflecting upon her journey toward recovery, Benson noted, "To be candid, were it not for my robust physical regimen and unwavering dedication to exercise, there exists a distinct likelihood that I would not have survived." She is the sibling of Akosua Agyapong, she added.
