Shatta Wale Cancels Freedom Wave Concert Amid Venue Clash with Stonebwoy.

Award-winning Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and his management team have officially announced the cancellation of the highly anticipated Freedom Wave Concert. This concert was initially scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, December 25, 2023.

The decision to cancel the event was made due to a scheduling conflict with fellow artist Stonebwoy. Stonebwoy had already announced his Bhim concert for Friday, December 22, which overlapped with Shatta Wale's planned concert. Shatta Wale expressed his dissatisfaction with the stadium management for granting permission to Stonebwoy to host his concert at the same venue that Shatta had successfully used for his shows over the past two years.

In a Facebook Live session, Shatta Wale accused Stonebwoy of attempting to undermine his concert, alleging support from the stadium authorities. One of Shatta Wale's primary concerns was the insufficient time between Stonebwoy's show and his own. Sports authorities had advised him that a minimum of three days was required for the proper setup of his concert.

Although there appeared to be attempts to resolve the issue following Shatta Wale's concerns and responses from Stonebwoy's team and the Director of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi, Shatta Wale ultimately decided to cancel the Freedom Wave Concert.

Sammy Flex, Shatta Wale's manager, confirmed the cancellation and mentioned that there were no alternative plans to relocate the event to a different venue unless they received a positive response from the National Sports Authority (NSA). The future of this annual concert now depends on the outcome of discussions with the NSA.
