Revamp Ghana Music Industry - Shatta Wale

Reggae Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, has urged for a fundamental reshaping of the music industry landscape in Ghana. He pointed out that the current state of affairs has led to limited progress and insufficient investment within the Ghanaian music industry. Thus, he emphasized the necessity for a comprehensive overhaul to rejuvenate and breathe new life into the sector.

During a discussion on the Ghana Music Industry hosted by news anchor Serwaa Amihere and co-host Austine Woode on the X space platform, Charles Nii Armah Jr. expressed his thoughts on the present condition of the industry. He underscored the importance of having qualified individuals who are well-versed in the industry's intricacies to take the lead and address its challenges. He questioned whether the industry is prepared to identify and involve knowledgeable professionals rather than those merely speaking from personal grievances.

Shatta Wale proposed a solution by suggesting the establishment of an educational institution, under government purview, focused on grooming capable music and entertainment executives. These individuals would then drive the advancement of industry players, attract essential investments, and foster innovation within the sector.

He further elaborated that this approach could help transform the industry significantly. He drew parallels between the qualifications of media personalities such as Serwaa and Kwame Sefa Kayi, who have undergone formal education in their fields, and the need for similar qualified individuals within the music industry. Shatta Wale indicated that in order to bring about positive change, a shift in mindset and a change in the personnel driving the industry are necessary. He emphasized that the collective power of the people involved can facilitate this transformation, just as it influences governmental changes.
