Claudette Dion, the sister of Celine Dion, disclosed in an interview with Le Journal de Montreal that the renowned singer has been facing difficulties in finding effective treatment for her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome. Despite collaborating with leading researchers in the field, the Grammy winner, aged 55, has observed minimal improvement in her health.
Stiff person syndrome is an uncommon and progressive neurological disorder that can cause stiffness in the torso, arms, and legs, affecting only about one in a million individuals, as per the National Institutes of Health.
Due to her diagnosis, Celine Dion had to cancel her Courage World Tour, a decision that Claudette believes is necessary for her potential rehabilitation. She believes that her sister needs ample rest, as Celine always strives to exceed expectations and be at the top of her game. However, her health condition is sending a message, and it's crucial to pay attention to it.
In support of Celine, their sister Linda has moved in with her in Las Vegas to take care of her during this challenging time. Linda keeps Claudette informed about Celine's progress and commitment to seeking guidance from top researchers in the field.
Despite the lack of significant improvement, the family remains hopeful that Celine Dion's condition will improve. In May, Celine expressed her deep regret in having to cancel over 40 tour dates due to the debilitating disorder, vowing to work hard to regain her strength and eagerly anticipating the day she can return to the stage.
Celine Dion revealed that she had been dealing with health issues for an extended period before her formal diagnosis in December 2022. She had previously experienced severe and persistent muscle spasms in October 2021, which led to a delay in her Las Vegas residency.
As of now, it remains uncertain when or if Celine Dion will be able to perform again. The family continues to offer their support, and Celine remains determined not to give up on her recovery and hopes to reunite with her fans soon. VIDEO
