ARTISTE PROFILE: RAINGAD ONWARD

 

Afrobeats, Reggae and Dancehall genre has gained more popularity than any genre in Ghana with a flood of songs and artists. In order to be noticed in the crowd, an artist has to be outstanding in all aspects of the game. This is a  strategy only a few artists including Raingad Onward, recording artist, performer and song writer from Ghana use. Born James Mawutor at Hohoe in the Volta Region of Ghana, grew up on the borders of Aflao where he started music. Raingad Onward as he is popularly known was influenced by legends such as Senzo, Daddy Lumba and Bob Marley from his childhood motivated him to start writing and recording in 2016. He gradually crept into the hearts of music lovers all over the world with his soothing and sensational songs.


After releasing ‘Never Give Up’ in 2016 being his first single, he never gave up but kept dropping hits on hits.  He released ‘So High’ and ‘Daavi’ in 2016/2017 followed by his powerful and inspirational song ‘Junction’ which features Keeny Ice in 2018. ‘Junction’  caught the attention of many across the globe including Big Mountain (an American band) and it also gained  endorsements from some media personalities both home and abroad putting Raingad in the spotlight. It also remained on the Voice of America playlist for two years since its release. He then released ‘Angelina’ featuring Quino of Big Mountain (under a record label called the Euro Tec Music), and ‘Total Vexing’ in 2019. In 2020, he released ‘Hold Your Baby’, a song encouraging people to focus on the qualities of life and living a stress free life. Again, in 2020 he released a soul soothing tune titled ‘Invitacion’ (invitation) featuring Balaguero, an artist from Chile. This song has a carribean vibe which makes it jamming in any weather.
