Kwabena Kwabena Withdraws from Political Affiliation Ahead of Elections

During an interview on TV3's New Day on February 9, popular Highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena declared that he no longer has any affiliation with any political party. Despite his past active support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including campaigning in 2016 and creating a campaign song in 2008, he emphasized that he is now completely disengaged from politics, asserting, "I am completely out of politics. I am Ghanaian." This decision comes as the NPP government has faced criticism for its management of the economy, leading to dissatisfaction among once-loyal party members. On February 7, 2024, the NPP's Flagbearer and Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, outlined his vision for the country if elected as President. However, many Ghanaians remain skeptical of the feasibility of his policies, considering concerns about the current state of the economy under the government's leadership. In addition to Kwabena Kwabena, Akwaboah has also announced his decision not to participate in this year's election, following a similar choice made four years ago.
