God Has Cursed VGMA Organizers Because Of What They Did To Me - Patapaa

Ghanaian artiste Patapaa Amisty, renowned for his popular track "One Corner," recently hinted at the idea of a divine curse directed at Charterhouse, the organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. During a recent interview on Hitz FM, Patapaa expressed his lingering disappointment over the 2018 VGMA, where he lost the coveted Most Popular Song of the Year award to Fancy Gadam's "Total Cheat."

Born Justice Amoah, the singer shared that he had a strong belief that God had placed a curse on the VGMA organizers as a consequence of their actions during the awards ceremony. He stated, "I can see that God has placed a curse on the organizers of VGMA because of what they did to me. I don't want to go far."

He refrained from going into further details but conveyed that the perceived curse was a form of punishment for causing pain to someone. He explained, "If I want to go far, then I will say this, when we say curse, it means you are being punished for causing pain to someone. I don't want to say it."

Patapaa cited the Amakye Dede controversy as an example, where the legendary musician was allegedly coerced into crowning Kuami Eugene as his successor, even though he was not prepared to do so. He said, "I would want to use Amakye Dede's issue as an example, but I don't want to say it. They forced Amakye Dede to crown someone when he was not ready to do that."

In the 2018 VGMA, Patapaa's song garnered significant attention and gained popularity in other countries. Despite being nominated alongside other prominent musicians such as Ebony, KiDi, Kwami Eugene, Joe Mettle, and Captain Planet, he openly criticized the awards board after losing, accusing them of accepting bribes to undeservedly award artists.

Following the VGMA loss, Patapaa expressed his frustration and vowed not to accept any nominations from VGMA in the future. Nevertheless, he remains dedicated to his musical journey and is presently promoting his latest single titled 'Agye.'
