Beenie Man Announces Release Date Of Seventeenth Studio Album 'Simma' After Lengthy Delay.

Beenie Man has confirmed that his seventeenth studio album, titled "Simma," is scheduled for release on August 31, 2023. This announcement comes after a significant delay of over two years since its initial announcement and nearly seven years after his previous project, "Unstoppable."

The upcoming album promises to showcase a diverse array of songs, incorporating various musical genres such as dancehall, reggae, afrobeats, and drill.

The King Of The Dancehall expressed his excitement for this latest offering, emphasizing that "Simma" will demonstrate his versatility as an artist. He shares that he has explored new genres while keeping the music authentic, signifying that he is still devoted to what he loves best – making music.

"Simma" features an impressive lineup of star-studded collaborators, including Busy Signal, Patoranking, Giggs, Ms. Banks, Mya, Hoodcelebrityy, Dexta Daps, Shenseea, Bunji Garlin, Shaggy, Popcaan, Dre Island, Morgan Heritage, Charly Black, Louie Culture, Stonebwoy, and Backroad Gee.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, he revealed that "Simma" holds a special place in his heart as he created this body of work during a challenging time after losing his mother.

The first single from the album, titled "Supa Star" featuring Sean Paul and Anthony Red Rose, will be released on July 28, accompanied by a music video. This collaboration marks the reunion of Beenie and Sean Paul since their previous tracks together, "Bossman" with Lady Saw in 2002, and "Greatest Gallis" in 2014.

Beenie Man known in real life as Moses Anthony Davis explained that the album's delay was due to several labels expressing keen interest in distributing it, leading to what he described as a "label battle" in March 2022.

The album boasts an equally remarkable team of producers, such as Frankie Music Productions, Jerome Wright, Andre ‘Suku’ Gray, Dutty Rock Productions, Walshy Fire, Rohan Smith, MD Music Group, Richie D, Jeremy Harding, Tony Kelly, Money Matters Entertainment, and internationally acclaimed Teddy Riley and The FaNaTiX. Notably, Beenie's MD Music Group is credited with the album's production, though the record label responsible for its release was not mentioned in the announcement.

Throughout his successful career, Beenie Man has released numerous albums, starting with his debut album, "The Invincible Beenie Man: The Ten Year Old DJ Wonder," in 1983 under producer Bunny Lee. He continued to release various albums, with some notable works like "Blessed" in 1995, which reached No. 12 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, and "Art and Life" in 2000, which won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2001 and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. His previous project before "Simma" was the album "Unstoppable," released in 2016.
